Every year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board exams are a major event for Class 10 and Class 12 students across India. This year, CBSE has scheduled the exams to commence from February 17, 2026, giving students a clear timeline to plan their preparations. The board has thoughtfully crafted the schedule to ensure a reasonable gap between subjects and to avoid clash with important entrance examinations.
The date sheet for the 2026 Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations has been published by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Examinations will commence on February 17, 2026. While announcing the results of the 2025 examination, CBSE initially stated that the Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2026 would commence on February 17. The CBSE stated that the Class 10 Board examinations in 2026 will be conducted based on the recommendations of NEP-2020.
Exam Schedule for Class 10 and 12
The Class 10 board exams will run from February 17 to March 10, 2026. Major subjects like Mathematics (Standard and Basic) kick off the exams on the first day, followed by English and Science in the subsequent sessions. On the other hand, the Class 12 exams have a longer schedule, starting simultaneously on February 17 and stretching until April 9, 2026. These exams will cover science, commerce, and arts streams with subjects spaced out optimally, helping students avoid overload and giving them time to revise thoroughly.

To provide students with a conducive exam experience, CBSE has ensured that no two subjects commonly chosen by a student fall on the same day. The careful planning also considers entrance exam timings so students appearing for competitive exams like JEE (Main) can manage time effectively. The exams are slated to begin at 10:30 AM daily, with durations adjusted according to different subjects.

CBSE Board Exam 2026 Final Date Sheet Released
During the evaluation, teachers of all subjects will remain in their school simultaneously for a short period. To guarantee that a student’s examinations for two offered subjects do not coincide on the same date, the date sheet has been created with over 40,000 subject combinations avoided. The examinations will commence at 10:30 a.m.
NTA will require the registration number of the Class 11 student to be filled in the JEE (Main) application, in order to ensure that their JEE (Main) and CBSE examinations do not coincide. Therefore, all schools are asked to furnish the Class 11 registration number to their students who are applying for JEE (Main). The official website of CBSE provides downloadable date sheets.
